In exactly one week, we'll see the insolvency figures for July-September 2011, showing us how many people entered an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) or other form of insolvency in the third quarter of the year.

Scotland: Trust Deeds near record high

Between July and September, the number of people entering a Trust Deed in Scotland reached 2,526 - very nearly a new record.

Only once in the past have we seen a higher quarterly figure - in the second three-month period of 2009, when 2,564 people entered a Trust Deed.

Rising unemployment means 'more financial hardship'

More than 185,000 unemployed people in the UK could be facing 'financial hardship' and debt problems, research from the Money Advice Trust (MAT) indicates.

In particular, of the nearly one million 16-24-year-olds who are currently unemployed, 7.2% - over 70,000 - 'will be facing severe financial hardship'.
